Hawai’i is an interesting place... It’s American - but not really.
First of all you have a strong local influence. People use Hawai’ian words, there are flowers on everything, etc.
And then there are hordes of Japanese tourists which means that you can see Japanese writings everywhere, in shops, in the bus... And of course it’s also in the way people look. So many are “hapa” - mixed race. Which is why my boyfriend feels so at home here.
Oh, and of course we had to add an extra touch and go for some tango last night :-)
We had spent the day at Hanauma Bay, snorkeling and hanging out.
Although I always find it fascinating to go snorkeling and seeing all those fishes close, I have to say that I was more impressed with the sealife in Sharm El Sheikh.
But it was worth it anyway, Hanauma is such a nice beach.
OK, off to Waikiki again!
