Bellagio - just strolling

Saturday was our relaxing day. We got up slowly in the morning and  went to eat from the big breakfast buffet in the baroque dining hall.

Then we had our free one-hour massages to relax our limbs that had been used so much during the last week for all that driving, walking and picture taking.

After a while of chilling in the hotel room we walked along the lake to the gardens of the villa Melzi. Actually this is a gigantic park belonging to a 19th century villa. May is the time when all the azalea bushes are in bloom so it was very lovely to visit the park.

We had planned to take a one hour boat trip in the afternoon but it was cloudy and looked like rain so we cancelled that and went down to the spa instead for a little swim and to sit in the steam room for a while.

Since it didn't start to rain after all we went back into the village for a little stroll and had pizzoccheri for dinner. Kind of a local simple people's dish, the antithesis to last night's refined cuisine.

But we still got to enjoy the hotel's band in the evening.
